While most projects come to Kickstarter with a request for full financing, Larian Studios opened the campaign almost in the middle of the developed process. They did not even ask for money for the game itself, but to improve its individual aspects. It took a little-some 400 thousand dollars to make the game world wider in diameter. The result was unexpected: a million dollars gained a million in a month, and the list of additional content is now occupied by a whole paragraph.
No one is going. Divinity: Original Sin They brought it to the past Gamemer, but did not even spend money on the stand: the authors settled down in the hotel room nearby, talking with tete-a-test reporters before a huge “plasma”. And the project personally presented the project manager Sven Vinka (SWEN VINCKE). So everything is serious.

Events will unfold some time before the original Divine Divinity. We will be able to meet familiar characters and find out the background of the events of subsequent parts. The gamer will present the opportunity to play for a couple of mercenaries hunting for adherents of the mysterious magic cult. Nobody wants to tell more, but we know how RPG is usually developing: the investigation will certainly develop into an epic adventure.
Just before starting, get ready for the fact that the rules will change. Title Divinity The name speaks only of the setting in which events are unfolding. But gameplay and ideologically the new part has little in common with the predecessors. The approach to the wins of the role, the combat system, and the main idea of everything happening have changed. A series that has always been limping somewhere to the side Diablo, Now it has turned into a real Planescape: Torment.
First of all, the authors from scratch developed a combat system. Now she is in a good way terrible: we are waiting for step-by-step battles, which are calculated on the basis of hundreds or two values. Fans of complex tactics will be where to walk around, because the role in battle is played by relative height, the size of the creature and all kinds of “skills”. The significance of the basic parameters has increased: for example, a character with an intelligence indicator 7 can only see the enemy level, and 8 will also show average damage. And if the level of intelligence is suddenly slightly above the baseboard, then the hero does not even think of automatically bypassing dangerous surfaces. Devil’s attention to details.
The environment and weather were found in its own role: the rain spell, for example, can wet some kind of orc so that it is more convenient to beat it with electricity. The only deviation from the classics is that there are no mana – the wizard limits only the time of reloading. But this does not simplify the process: the party is on average relatively weak. We will have to get involved in serious fights only with the support of golems and mercenaries, so it is unlikely that you can do with the usual “jamming”.
The next fundamental innovation was a powerful Paddypower Casino role component. Now the characters have a full multifaceted character, which is fixed by a dozen features. Moreover, the selected role really will have to play: it is not enough just to note that the warrior is good – you need to and behave appropriately. If the paladin suddenly begins to be rude to the right and left, then Divinity Immediately cancel the donated bonuses and give out new ones – plus to damage for aggression, for example.
The main theme of the upcoming RPG was “Creative Freedom”, as a sample of which you can take Fallout 2. No one limits the player from the genocide of all living things, as long as he can cope with the main plot branch. The engine allows you to fight with mop, touches the guards with flower pots and with impunity to kill passers -by in dark alleys. Add to this an excellent sense of humor of the scriptwriters, who yourself are not averse to turning individual moments into a farce, and get an almost real desktop RPG – it was behind this sensation that Larian Studios.
Magams can be all
Soven has a whole presentation: alone with each journalist, he runs through the start -up location and shows the main features of the game. But we somehow quickly grabbed the essence, and after ten minutes the head of the developer team declares: “Fuck This Presentation” and under our leadership begins to play with the outside world, as with a sandbox.
On the one hand, the bulk of the events is strictly scricered. Here the boy, seeing us, begins to shout that he did not steal any fish (you can call the guard). Residents run to stop the fire in the port, the orcs behind the walls of the city are fighting with the guards, and the turkey sitting in the cage persistently demands to save him from death. Something happens every three minutes, and most events promise to have consequences more seriously than another plusk in karma.
It will not be possible to exhaust all the content at a time: the game is specially planned so that different “build” mercenaries are plunged into different troubles. Thanks to Kickstarter, for example, the skill “Talking with animals” has appeared – it will allow you to take additional tasks from each chicken passing by. Spent points on some other “perk”-and immediately miss a hundred funny stories.
The second part of intra -game incidents are those that the player forms himself. For example, we arranged a planned robbery of the house: we distracted the owner with one character while the second was looking for a safe. It is a pity, this was noticed by the in time the security guard who immediately teleported the careless thief to prison. But his partner formally did nothing, so she remained unpunished. After a few minutes, we could be caught in the country for bribes to the guards … if not for the powerful skill of belief.
At the same time, the heroes are actively commenting on what is happening: any burned corpse of a soldier (possibly even if he burned through your fault) causes a dialog box in which a strict young lady admires the heroism of the fallen soldiers, and the uncouth mercenary is echidisting about the insurance paid to the families of the dead. The player chooses replicas independently – to receive bonuses for a worldview. The controversial situations are similarly resolved: one shell on the beach, for example, informed us that she ate a chest with treasures and could not reach the shore. Heroes quarreled – get money or save a rare beast? The one who had an argument (in the form of an increased indicator of judgment) won was more powerful.
Here the Belgian “recalls” the most interesting: “Oh yes, I forgot to say: the second party member can play another user”. What is happening instantly begins to play with new colors: it turns out that all these skirmishes can be arranged with a friend. Moreover, if this bald ducks in jail, no one forbids him to leave him there until better times;Even situations are likely to drive one of you from the city as a recidivist, so the quest part will have to be decided by another.
An interesting multiplayer battle is furnished: step -by -step mode is activated only in the framework of a certain area. Thus, if your partner was taken by surprise, the second character in the distance can still act in real time. Run to the store and buy explosive arrows, for example.
There is one more entertaining news: in Steam the game will be available with all Workshop functions, so the number of game content will be measured only by the activity of the fan community (and it has already confirmed the seriousness of its intentions on Kickstarter). The editor, by the way, is also designed for a joint study: several authors are allowed to work on a single location at once, and each of them can at any time try out without even leaving the window.
The graphics seem to be not too technological, but thanks to the competent visual style it looks quite modern and pretty.
The organizer that controls the presentation of the presentation interrupted our communication with Sven after 40 minutes, when we, portraying the terrorists, pushed powder barrels to the southern gates through the city. And it seems, if he did not, then we would not have to miss at least a couple of hours.
Studio Larian, It seems that it consists exclusively of children who have not yet grown up: getting rid of the oppression of publishers, they seemed to shout to jars of jam. Divinity: Original Sin – This is the dream of a lover of classic RPG, “old”, complex, damn funny and offering the maximum possible level of freedom. If she can withstand the same rhythm throughout the passage as in the starting location, then this will certainly be the best role.
